From the Skier's Guide to New England, these two rope tow areas were located on McFarland's Hill. There were several trails and a 200 foot vertical drop, located on Mt. Anybody remember seeing these? 1939 (Skier's Guide to New England) Open slope--Twenty acres, 75 to 600 feet wide, 15 degree slope. Mount Desert Island Outing Club Trail Length: 800 feet, vertical 200 feet Tow 1949 (World Ski Book) In 1949, a 1330 foot rope tow operated on McFarland's hill.
