Begun as a rope tow before 1948, it had grown to include a 950 foot T-bar with a rather low capacity of 100 skiers per hour in 1971. Here's a picture of the Club, taken well before a ski area was ever built. (From the VT Life article "Ski Vermont", Winter 1948, and VT Tramway reports.
