At least 1952 The Silver Streak Ski Area opened in Winsted sometime in the 1940's. It changed its name to Laurel Hill around 1948, give or take a year. Located 1 mile east of Winsted, off Rte. 44, Laurel Hill offered skiing on a 1300 foot rope tow with a 400 foot vertical drop in 1949. Anybody know what happened after that year?
